About me
Hi! I’m Manuel, a systems architect in Monterrey, Mexico.
I started in 2012 at Bitfarm as an analyst and developer, while I was in my second semester at the School of Physics and Mathematics (FCFM) of UANL. Six months later I was leading the team, and I haven’t stopped building things since.
What I do
Most of my experience is in banking, where I’ve worked on some pretty interesting problems:
- A pricing model for business loans.
- Handling regulatory requests from Mexico’s banking regulator (CNBV), including an application we rebuilt from scratch to process them.
- The second version of the customer app for Seguros Banorte.
And every now and then, something completely different: for a jewelry store in France I built an app that measures your ring size with your phone screen in three taps.
My day-to-day stack is Java, Angular, Oracle and WebSphere, although I’ve also worked with PHP, and with MySQL since before Oracle bought it.
What I’m into now
I want to spend time on open projects that help people, like a glucose meter. If you have an idea like that, or want to collaborate on one, I’d love to hear about it.
I like learning about everything; I consider myself a philosopher in the making. Here I write about what I learn along the way.
